Hi Everyone,
We've got a new tent so it's got to be a camping holiday this summer but I'm determined to get to Spain. Does anyone know of any good cheap campsite near Santandar or Bilbao for the ferry crossing?
Thanks.
By the way my dd will be 2 then and first foreign holiday.

Hi JennyRose. Have you searched on Google? I just looked myself and saw a campsite on tripadvisor dot com called Camping Cabo Mayor in Santander.

I live in Madrid and have been looking for campsites in Northern Spain too - I LOVE the North of Spain. Been to Galicia, Cantabria, the Basque country and Catalunya so far and fancy checking out Asturias this year. Will be the first time camping with DS (7 months at mo).

On the plus side, Spain is really child-friendly but it's worth researching the campsites as much as possible - in my experience they're not as lovely as French ones.... can be a bit noisy (Spanish kids tend to stay up very late!) and sometimes a bit cramped.

But I love Spain - the countryside is gorgeous, lovely villages to explore etc etc. People are generally friendly. A smattering of Spanish might help you too - just to show willing!

What tent have you got? We need to buy a family one - any tips?

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

We have stayed at a fab site in Gascony - just over the border into France so v.close to the Spanish Ports.

Le Vieux Port, you can book direct or all the usual English Campsite operators go there.
