We always go to Fieldhead or Upper Booth but want somewhere further south for a weekend in a few weeks.

I have come up with Bank House Farm or Berry Wood Farm.

Struggling to decide - has anyone been to either?

Berry Wood isn't open that often but is open when I am thinking of going, lack of shower (unless sunny doesn't bother me, we have our own if necessary and can just fill it with warm water and use their shower cubicle).

Barn Farm campsite at Birchover is nice.

Thanks, we had discounted that one for some reason, probably size if I know DH as it is almost three times as big as Bank House - we tend to opt for smaller places.

Just spent the weekend (in the rain) at Haddon Grove, near Monyash. Quite basic but very peaceful and lovely location. Has hot showers and loos. Really nice walk down to Lathkill Dale.

Thanks TwoLeftSocks, I still haven't booked it yet, I think that we have decided on Berry Wood as we can have a fire, they came back to me last night to confirm availability.

We might now go to Barefoot near Oxford now as our dog sitter is free and we can canoe easily there. We are so indecisive - I will book it today.

We have decided on and booked Barefoot (yes, a decision).

Berry Wood took a while to come back to my booking request, in the meantime we had asked the dog sitter and the second plan was taking shape ... so not Southern Peaks at all.

I am going near there the following week though on a different trip. Smile.

We were talking about canoeing over the weekend, I'll have to remember that Barefoot site!

We haven't been before twoleftsocks, we did book it last year but had to cancel.

Looks like everything we like though, small, basic, fires.

We like to have a few canoeing trips a year, love Low Wray in the Lakes for canoeing and Morston on the Norfolk coast. Have also booked Cookham Lock on the Thames too for later in the year (not been before).
