Best Camping chair?

Had a very unsuccessful trip round town today trying to find camping chairs. Most places had very little, if any, stock and I wasn't really impressed with what I saw. They were all either really uncomfortable or the folded chairs in bags were huge would never fit them in the car with our other stuff.

Can anyone recommend a comfortable chair that folds up fairly small and isn't really expensive?

We just (at the end of August, when we returned from our camping trip with a broken chair) got a couple of new camping chairs from tesco - comfy, fold up small, and less than £5 each as they were on sale - we got them in a nearby tesco, though I see they are out of stock at tesco direct:

But maybe you might find a few in a large tesco somewhere?

Thanks I'll have a look. A couple of friends have offered to lend us some if we can't find any in time.

We've got those Tesco ones. Had them for years and there is nothing wrong with them. I've looked at the 'posher' ones and none of them seem to fold up as small. I went to a picnic last week with my sis and BIL they had some very nice padded chairs but they also had a wheeled trolley to put them on as they were too awkward and heavy to carry! Whereas I was carrying chairs, coolbag etc with ease. I suppose it's ok for them as they have no children so there are only two chairs to pack when they camp but now we have teenagers we have to find room for four adult chairs which makes a big difference.

I have a bad back, and for me a good, supportive camping chair is worth its weight in gold.

After much research and testing, we invested in these:

No, they're not cheap, but we found that the cheapy supermarket/petrol station folding chairs would only last us 1 season anyway. So far they are 3 years old and going very strong.

They fold up reasonably small and don't weigh too much, plus the bags have carrying handles you can put over your shoulder. I keep them in the boot of my car so that I have them handy (useful for impromptu trips to the beach etc.).

And they are soooooo comfortable! The way the backs are made is really supportive of your posture - they have honestly made a world of difference to my camping experience.

I got the Tesco ones, they were reduced to £3 each. Tried one in the shop and it was more comfortable than the £30 ones I tried in other shops. More money for wine now Grin.

DH is slightly over the max weight limit but if it breaks I won't be crying at that price.

Now to make a list of what we need for camping this weekend (our first trip) Smile.

We've got some expensive-ish outwell ones that are average ... But the one we fight over is a teeny Quechua chair . It's full bum sized but tiny legs so a small pack size and you are nearer the floor. Really strong and sturdy too. I think decathlon still sell them.

Don't think we'd get it in the car Grin.

I have a helinox chair one, which is brill but pricey, but my friend has something that is a direct copy (probably out of the same factory!) which was much cheaper on ebay.
