when camping, what time is acceptable to make the first cup of tea?

Having to light the gas thing and potter about with cups etc. Suddenly realized last night that whilst we need caffeine to keep us going, not everyone will appreciate a 5am brew.

What time is ok to start pottering about? Children are early risers

As long as you are quiet I don't think it's a big deal. dh is usually up at 6am when we go camping and will make coffee then. However we usually camp at site with lots of people who are fishing, so early starts are not unusual. 5am should be whispering only though!

I usually make a flask of coffee the night before, because ds often wakes in the night or very early, so I put him in his buggy and take him for a walk. Have flask and something to eat packed up ready to go!

Are you in the UK camping? I would say 7 am would be reasonable.

Why have I never thought of a flask? Hazeyjane that is an excellent idea.

I had thought of a flask but hate flask tea. Yes it's in the UK. Very worried about the 7am starts as we've generally been up hours by then. Combine with a teething baby and I'm not feeling optimistic!

If everything is set out ready for making a cup the night before, you probably won't make that much noise. Have some cereal in little boxes and something like brioche for the kids and don't worry about the teething baby, if you are camping there are some noises you just can't avoid!

Also if you don't like flask tea, then just put the hot water in the flask, and have the cups out ready with teabags in.

I would say anytime as long as your quiet! That's the thing about camping, everyone rises and different times so I never worry.
If so early, my son plays quietly, I take the dog out for a wee and we just start our day.

It's completely up to you what time you start! I think the key is respect for other campers. I fully understand small children rising early, but when their parents let them run screaming around the other tents or into the play area, that's not really acceptable to me
Most sites have a roughly 11pm to 7am noise restriction thing anyway. Maybe think of some things your children can do quietly when they wake? Colouring, even an ipad or DVD?
As for the baby, well there isn't much you can do about that so don't worry. Again, as long as you make some effort to quiet the baby it's just how it is!

Agree with MissWimpyDimple Every accepts that babies will cry and toddlers will get up when they waken....however early that is!!
It's how you deal with it that makes the difference. Whispering kids playing quiet games and parents being as quiet as possible is accepted with a 'been there, glad I'm out of that stage' knowing sigh...
It's boots/car door being repeatedly opened and shut that drive me mad!!

We have packed books, colouring, notebooks, pens, dvd player with headphones and my kindle so I can MN so I'm hoping that will keep them quiet enough for long enough. They are generally loud at home though maybe they will surprise us and behave nicely

Check the details on your site - we've just come back from one that specified quiet 11pm - 7.30am but we've also stayed in one with quiet until 8am which we were pushing with our 4 year old.

Maybe boil the kettle with the stopper open so it doesn't whistle when it's boiled?

Yeah, I was about to say, it is acceptable to do it whenever you wake really provided you don't have a whistling kettle or a rocket boil type of cooker. If your cups and tea are out and ready the night before so there isn't too much rattling and rustling, the noise is mainly going to be zipping and unzipping the tent and that goes on all night long.

Besides, people who are going to be disturbed by that level of noise should really bring earplugs because far noisier things, including babies crying, are bound to be going on through the night.

As long as you are quiet abd keep the banging around to a minimum and don't leave uour kettle whistling then any time.

I suppose its taking into account I what your fellow campers do. I am in my 2nd week on a campsite from hell (for me) where people get up at 6am and let their little darlings out to play shouting across the site cornflakes or rice krispies? Despite the site rules about quiet I am in the minority wanting to sleep past 6am it seems.
