Outwell montana 6 side porch

We've had our Montana for about 6 years now and it's been great except for the side porch, which we couldn't put up from day one, due to damaged poles. This means that each time we've camped, we've had a big flap of porch fabric hanging at the side of the tent that gets soggy and dirty and prevents us from using that side door. Does anyone who has this tent (or who doesn't, for that matter) think it would be ok to just get some scissors and cut the porch bit off? It looks as though the underneath bit would be perfectly waterproof but my DH thinks it may affect its resistance to rain. Any thoughts?

get some new poles??

we used to have a montana 6. From what I remember they are just ordinary flexible poles going over that porch door.

you could get any poles, they don't have to be Outwell.

eg £9.99 and cut them to size if necessary.

but if you are determined to cut it off, I don't think it would affect the waterproofing, it might be an idea to leave a little ridge over the door zip to deflect the rain.

Is get some new poles. I have this tent and find the side porch useful for muddy wellies and not stepping mud into the tent in bad weather.

Actually it's only one pole thinking about it. It must be easy to get one. I can measure mine if it helps?

It braces itself in the two holders it clips into and you peg the rest of the fabric out to create the porch.

Thanks for that - had kind of dismissed the idea of ever using if again! I'll have a look at it tomorrow - if it's not raining- and see whether I could just get a pole.
