Camping

Booked for next weekend - how insane am I?

Okay, this is our first year of camping. With the rain and the cooler weather we'd pretty much considered packing up for the winter, but with the 7 day forcast at least showing no rain for next weekend we've thrown caution to the winds and booked a weekend at Christchurch in the Forest of Dean.

How cold is it going to get early September or should it still be okay? We normally go away with duvet plus a sleeping bag we can unzip and throw over the top - will that be enough at night?

Normally if we go away this time of year, we have to take a duvet, but it sounds like you should be warm enough.

We're camping this weekend too, GeorginaA. If you're mad, so are we!

We went this weekend and it was fine, but damo, but not cold. I'd go this weekend, but I've camped in October and DH in November!!!! Take a hat to sleep in if it's cold.

It's been warm and sunny here in Poole today, if that helps.

Erm.... when you say hilly bit - does that mean we're going to have a hard job levelling the camper?!

We're going camping this weekend too In the Lake District.

Quick Q - we're seasoned campers, but this is the 1st time we've taken DD (26mths). She has a readybed, but what do you think she'll need to keep her warm at night? She still uses grobags at home.

I think it's going to be pretty cool at night. Would fleece all-in-one PJs + vest + 2.5tog grobag + maybe a fleece blanket be OK??

SO glad we decided to go - was a FAB time. Christchurch is even lovelier than Bracelands as the shop is close, the facilities immaculate and a great playground for the kids. Loved strolling up to the shop for fresh croissants this morning

Weather was fab, although did retire into the camper earlier than we normally would to get the benefit of the heater! If anything, was a little too warm last night as we over-layered!

All packed away now though sniffle. So... when's the earliest sane time to go camping next year?
