hi all - we are thinking of going East this year for our camping week and thought I'd try here first for any recommendations. We're looking for a mainly tents site (not bothered about "evening entertainment" or anything) - nice loos, showers and possibly and electric hook up.

Thanks in advance for anywhere you've been and liked! Smile

We have just spent the weekend at this one www.blacklandsfarm.co.uk and it was fab. I highly recommend it for a simple campsite with a great playground in the centre for the kids. We hardly saw the one camping with us and they had a fantastic time.

Loads of great sites to choose from in that area Tommy. Forgewood (forgewoodcamping.co.uk/) is fab, as is St Ives Farm (www.stivesfarm.co.uk/) and Chafford Park (chaffordpark.co.uk/). None of them have electric hook up unfortunately but all allow fires.

Park Farm (www.parkfarmcamping.co.uk/) near Bodiam is a big site which does do EHU and also allows fires - it has a lovely walk along the river to Bodiam Castle and a pub. But it is not a quiet retreat by any standards.

I also liked Manor Court Farm (www.manorcourtfarm.co.uk/). Again fires are allowed but I am not sure about EHU.

I'll try the links again:

We went to Alfriston Camping Park recently and it was wonderful. Fires allowed, camp where you like, flushing loos and powerful showers (men's have just been upgraded, women's to follow). Very relaxed and friendly owners.
