Camping

Oh bother. Thermarest have stopped manufacturing their Dreamtime SIM with memory foam.

I had heard the rumour that they had been discontinued but it has just been comfirmd this morning. I'm gutted as they looked super comfy and the SIM section was nice and thick, thicker then my Basecamp I have already. I know you can buy the comfort covers separately which is simply the memory foam but I wanted to buy it as a bundle, thicker SIM with memory foam Sad

Apparently Thermarest are just about to bring out their thickest mat ever, 7-8 cm but it will not have a memory foam topper.

I'm wondering if their 'Comfort Covers' will be discounted too? Who knows!

Why don't they bring out new mats in Spring time? Surely that would make more sense then in August when lots of people are already camping for the summer season?!

We have just purchased a Thermarest Mondoking which is 10cm. I don't think it has the memory foam but maybe worth considering? Our old thermarests are 10 years old (still going strong) but are 5cm, thickest available I think at the time. It is magic. Sad thing is that we could only afford 1 ATM (which we got for a good price) so DH and I have to take turns, but we will upgrade whn I spot another bargain.

Wow! They sound amazing! Is it beastly in size when packed? How much did you get yours for? My Basecamp I have currently is 5 cm.

The rolled size is virtually the same as our old ones (which I think is a basecamp), but it does take a bit more effort to deflate it and it is heavier. I found it for £105, other places were £120-£130. Still not an absolute bargain, but given our old ones were about £80 10 years ago we decided it was value for money. I did consider non-thermarest ones (outwell/vango) but they packed bigger and were even heavier. Maybe when the new one comes out it may be reduced?

Our Exped MegaMats just arrived and they are amazing. Doesn't even seem to be the same thing as our Costco Sims. I mean, I know they aren't and the cost 4 times as much (GULP) but I thought they would just be extra fat versions of the costco ones but they aren't. I can't really describe it but the feeling is just completely different. Very touchable fabric and very light - when they are deflated down they are incredibly thin. I watched the YouTube videos and was sold on the fact that there are two valves.

Sparky OMG can't believe you have a Mega mat! I have been looking at those. Are you in the UK? I'm a little confused by them if I'm honest. Are they self inflating mats but super fat? Or are they air beds?

What are they like to sleep on?
