Camping feature on at the moment. Must be summer!

Quite amusing although the statement that camping is quintessentially British might come as a surprise to the Dutch who, IMO, do it much better than we do.

Thanks cheerup. Will try to listen again later.

What is a pop up tent if it's not a tent? Confused

Got to agree with you about the Dutch. They definitely do it best.

I'm intrigued now! How do the Dutch do it? Googles campsites in Holland

Why the Dutch? We met three separate Dutch families camping this weekend and they ALL had camper vans! What do they do differently? At least they have flat campsites Wink

They might pop up but they sure as hell don't pop down. I reckon all the time you might save putting them up is equalled out trying to pack them away.

Flippin cheekGrin

I am a pop up convert, I have 5 several!

I have no trouble getting them bag in the bag after watching the video a few times on you tube.

On the other hand I am physically not strong enough to heave our large steel poled family tent into the roof box on my people carrier, even when I separate the canvas and poles!!

All those pop up nay sayers need to try one one day! They might be surprised Smile

That radio piece was hilarious. Presenter seemed convinced camping needed to be 'hard work' in order to be worthwile. He also thought a pop up tent and an inflatable pole tent where the same thing....then told us he actually had an inflatable pole tent thereby refuting his earlier argument. All very surreal.

I agree Ineedmorepatience. Pop ups pop down just fine. We're so happy with ours that since our two weeks in France at the beginning of the month we've just put our Icarus 500 (new this year) for sale on ebay and decided to just use our pop up from now on.

As for the Dutch. Check out the latest De Waard ogling thread for an explanation.
