The downside of having such a big tent

We have just had to cancell our summer break because despite giving the dimensions of our tent twice and being promised that the pitch is big enough (having swapped us to a supposedly bigger pitch), it turns out that they hadn't swapped the details over and we remain on the smaller pitch which clearly isn't big enoughSad

And to top it all off they have refused to give our deposit back as they say it is our mistake!Angry

Glad you got it back! Did you go down there and have to come back? Can you find somewhere else?

No didn't go down there luckily, was all done via phone and e-mail. We have managed to find somewhere else tho' who can take the size of our tent and it's a lot cheaper tooSmile, this means that we can go away twice in the 6 weeks hols instead of onceGrin

At least it worked out well in the end then. We've got a big tent too, and this is something I worry about when I look at sites. Should I pay a lot extra for somewhere that specifies sizes of tents or go for longer to somewhere cheaper, and hope we fit!

Ours is 7.5 by 8.5 metres (I think), So far this is the only site that we've had probs with, twas a big commercialised site though-don't know if that makes any difference.

hello our tent is 21ft and many sites will not take it we had no idea this would happen when we bought it.
what site were you going to?

We were going to Searles at Hunstanton.

One site that we've been to (well the only siteGrin)is Willow Holt in Lincs, had no problems there.

Some sites have areas for small tents and areas for big 'uns, often the smallies get put in slightly hillocky areas where they can fit between the bumps...also means they can fit in more tents that if the give a two man dome tent the sam esize space as am extralarge familiy tent with camper and canopy...

the campsites we tend to go to don't do this, have nice big pitches whatever size you are (!!!) but then they aren't big 'commercial' sites (basically fields with a shower block)
