Haven't been there but looks lovely to me. There are very few in the New Forest that allow campfires, only other one I know of is Fish Ponds Bottom, again haven't been there but like the look of it.

Eachpeach, I haven't stayed at Embers either but having just looked at their website, I was going to put it on our wish list as it looks wonderful. But it is £20 per night per adult! That seems a bit steep to me or am I just not used to New Forest prices?

I have to say, Fish Pond's Bottom looks lovely too hz, and half the price from a quick look.

I have to agree MummyPig £50 for a family of four per night is a ridiculous price.

They don't mention what facilities they have on site either but I get the impression from their website that it's fairly back to basics.

Blimey that is a bit steep! I once paid £45 per night in a moment of madness, it was a very lovely spot but I felt slightly resentful about the price the whole time I was there!

The best site in the New Forest is Long Meadow in Brockenhurst. It's the cheapest I know at £25 per night, and the pitches are huge.

I don't know Embers though but wouldn't pay that I don't think.

Thanks for the tip about Long Meadow.

I've been searching and searching for a nice site in The New Forest that charges less than £30 p/n and it's been impossible.

So having read the great reviews I've just booked four nights at Long Meadow for August.

Embers does sound fantastic but I can't justify playing that much to pitch a tent!

Ah! I think I know of Embers now. Just put 2+2 together.

My friend stayed there and she wasn't impressed. She thought it was very expensive and they couldn't take their car to the tent so had to pull their trailer along. It didn't help that it was raining, but they came home early and said they wouldn't stay there again.

It has good reviews on UKCS though so maybe it just wasn't for them.

Glad to recommend Long Meadow Angel and it's good to know you can still get pitches in August. I thought it was getting more popular every year and harder to get into at late-ish notice. It's not a nestled in the trees campsite like Hollands Wood as it's an open field, but the pitches are huge and it's right next to the trees. DC have a ball there and head straight for the stream on their bikes. And if you're awake early enough you can see the deer grazing in the field.

When are you going? I'm there the weekend of 12/8.

We are going 19th Aug for 4 nights. Hoping to hire bikes and explore the area, DC's very excited about the rope swings and stream!

Hope you enjoy your trip!
