We're going to france next month for a nearly 3 week road trip. We're going in our van and will have all our camping gear. It will be me, dh and our 3 young children who are 6,4 and 18 months. Im going to book the channel tunnel and we plan to stay in the middle week in chamonix as we have access to free accomodation there.

We dont mind going off from the direct route to chamonix but has anybody got any recommendations on where to camp? We plan to cut up the travelling by travelling for short periods and staying somewhere different every couple of night as the children are still very young to stay in the van for long periods.

Or if anyone has any tips at all for us - they will be gratefully appreciated! X

Have you got an ACSI camping card? We live in France but have just done a 3 week road trip to Italy. The card comes with a book that lists only good campsites and there is money off. We basically planned our whole trip with it.

Have you looked on www.ukcampsite.co.uk? There are hundreds of reviews of lots of French sites on there, from municipal to Castels etc.
