Do you stay on site all day? If so what do you do?

I've booked a pitch on a field with not much else around.

Will we be bored (5yo and 2yo)?

Bearing in mind this is a field in the middle of no where, I'm not sure how many other kids there will be on site.

Do you ever stay on site all day? What do you do?

I might slightly regretting this booking.

I'm going to have to see what we can drive to in the area

At the very least you can go for a walk.

On the rare occasions that DS1 joins us he tends to stay on site. Not sure what he does but he won't be playing with other children at 18 Grin

We generally are only weekend campers (in this country at least) and take the kids' bikes. They often like to play in the woods, we might go for a walk and we spend a LOT of time building a fire and cooking. Sometimes we might venture off site to do something else but it's always an outdoor activity.

Found a NT property quite close by which seems quite nice

Usually go offsite a bit, but never camped anywhere there isn't woods/rivers etc on site either. This weekend we're camping on what looks like a field with nothing else nearby and I'm a bit worried about what we'll do. Dp's friends booked it and we're a bit disappointed.

We play - look for bugs, other wildlife, different plants / grasses. The kids do colouring, jigsaws, read stories and play with other kids on site (though we often go with friends too)

A bit of down time is great for a weekend camping. Friday night is set up, Saturday completely down time - we try and camp somewhere we can walk to a pub for a beer or three after lunch and then back for tea and light the fire and settle in for an evening round the fire - stories, songs and the kids may do some entertainment!

If we were going for a week we would have trips away.

You'll be fine.

Weekend camping. Depends where we go. If we go somewhere with woods, play area then ds tends to go off and play and I read. We tend to go out for part of the day but I have been camping and not left the site the entire weekend (MN camping weekend a few years ago!).
