How about going to a site with tents already pitched?

Or go with friends who have been camping before and can possibly help with some of the heavy stuff.

Maybe you could just find somewhere local to you for a weekend to start with, so if the weather is really awful you can just head home.

We take our two (2 & 6) and they absolutely love it, but there can be alot of stuff! We manager to pack an estate car plus a roof bag, though that does include things like airbeds and camping chairs. And many, many blankets / hats / coats etc.

we would be going in the summer holidays as I don't think I could stand the cold in the easter holidays. we never get to go on holiday so I started thinking about camping so the kids get a holiday every summer I was think of just 3 or 4 nights to start off so if we hate it we don't have long to suffer Grin

Jammy - that sounds a great idea. How do you find sites that already have tents pitched?

Yeah, definitely start off in the summer hols!

//www.ukcampsite.co.uk is a very useful website for finding somewhere, and there are quite a few reviews on MN now too.

It's a brilliant idea and you will be hooked! It took me years to convince DH to camp and now he's a seasoned expert (given the right weather conditions!).
