Do you count the cooked pasta calories or weigh the pasta raw then cook it.

Not sure if this makes sense..............

Ooh I've always wondered this as I'm never sure if I'm supposed to weigh it before or after cooking not helpful but watching with interest.

I count dry weight. I usually go by the guide on the back of the packet for how many grams to cook per portion because I'm terrible for cooking too much pasta!

I'm not to bad at cooking it i am just trying to figure out if 100g of dry pasta = the calories or 100g of cooked pasta.

Portion control on pasta is ridiculous. 'One cup of pasta'.......one portion. For a very small mouse, yes.

It's dry weight - you don't cook and then weigh.

Meg if you're using MFP, I usually weigh the potatoes before cooking then add these and any oil etc to MFP, rather than cooked weight.

Will give that a tRy cheers, am using mfp tricky at times when cooking for whole family.

If you're weighing it afterwards you're just weighing the extra water, surely?

I'm having a quandary on this one too. I have scanned on MFP and it says 110g is 150cals. Yet on the back of bag it says 100g is 160 cals and and 180g cooked (75g dry portion) is 270 cals.

I've weighed out 75g dry so is this 270 cals? Does that sound about right?

Oops 100g not 110g

75g of dry pasta is around 180g and 220 calories when cooked.
