Not losing weight why?

I feel your pain. I find it extremely hard to lose weight - it comes of every gradually. I feel as if I have to work 10x harder then other people.

I think that peoples bodies work differently to one another and my metabolism may be slow or whatever but that just means I have to be more careful with what I eat and how I exercise - sucks but its something that can be overcome.

I think its important to stay positive and determined because eventually your hard work will pay off - mine certainly did :-)

And the best thing about losing weight gradually is that its mor elikeloy to stay off due to your change in lifestyle!

And most of all love yourself and body as it is. If you lose any more weight then count it as a bonus. You seem to be at a perfectly healthy weight anyway!

I weigh 10.7 st too but as much as I'd love to weigh less I'm quite happy to be a size 10. I notice that no matter what I eat I stay around this weight. The only time I weigh less is when I got food poisoning - is this your natural weight? Also if I'm looking to lose weight fast I will go on no carbs

Keep a food diary and write EVERYTHING down, best advice I can give you. Also, if you're not already, avoid fruit juices...even the healthiest ones are packed with calories. Better to eat the fruit and then you get fewer calories plus the fibre smile

Thank you very much for your support lost two pounds in a whole much so now 10.5 stone. I don't have any problems with chocolate or junk food, hence the frustration. Walking at least an hour daily.

It's always frustrating when that happens! I used to weight 13 - 14 stone and now weigh 9 stone - and it was a huge battle to get there! It all came off gradually. I did moderate exercise but to be honest, I had to teach myself how to have a healthy diet and thankfully after a while everything fell into place and healthy eating has just become part of my lifestyle.

I tried so many different diets and eating habits but in the end just eating healthily paid off. No restricting calories - I cut out all junk like takeaway meals, chips , chocolate, crisps etc and instead swapped them for fruit, the occasional cereal bar and yogurt.

I made sure I ate regularly and as long as it was healthy it didn't matter - its important to keep your metabolism up!

Bit long winded but what I was going to say was: don't give up! Even if you don't see any changes on the scales. You are doing so well already. Just keep up the good work and everything else will fall into place :-) x

I agree with neo. I weigh exactly the same, and need to be extremely strict with calories and exercise to even just stay the same. The less you have to lose, it seems, the harder it is!

Thank you very much,I will read the article you suggest. It has only been a few days but I have increased my food slightly and seem to have lost a little.i will post exact loss in a few days.there could be truth in the theory

I wonder if -ahem- you need to eat a bit more!

According to what I've read on MFP, there's a school of thought that says if you eat exactly your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) each day, if you're overweight, you'll lose, albeit very gradually, mind! They suggest you eat '200-300' cals a day less to 'speed things up a bit'. I'm 50, 5' 6" and weigh 11/7 and am moderately active. My TDEE is about 2100. So if I eat 1800, I'll lose weight but if I eat 1200, there's a chance my body will fight its darndest to hold onto that fat as that's 1000 cals less than my TDEE. There's a whole section in MFP (under something called roadmap??!) explaining why, it's all quite technical. Finding your TDEE is also a bit technical, involving body fat percentages and frame measurements but it's a good starting point.

I'd been on 1200 for ages and I found I'd stalled, too, but tbh I had almost quit dieting as I thought 'This isn't working' after I'd lost 8 lbs (to 11/8) but the day after I 'gave up', I weighed in at a pound less so I was gradually losing! I hasten to add my 'non-dieting' isn't of the 'eat everything in sight' school that many poor people suffer from, and I suspect yours, if you're 10/7 isn't either so you can afford to 'ease up' a bit?

well i weigh 10 stone and around 9/10 pounds and i eat as youve described as a general habit....i dont drink at all but nearly always have a bar of chocand a pack of crisps.on a friday...i am 40. if i want to loose weight i find i have to be pretty drastic in terms.of cals. i would cut the wine and fruit juiceand double check the ingredients pf that innocent soup.....also ditch the spuds. have cous cous...red kidney beans or rice.

You can't cheat the laws of Physics - if you consume fewer calories than you use you will lose weight. Do more exercise and/or eat less! Ignore the people who say you have to run a marathon to run off a Mars bar - every little helps. A good hard hour long workout (BMF or similar) can burn 600 calories. Do that 6 times and you've lost nearly a pound. Be wary of drinking fruit juice - it's healthy but loaded with calories.

Above all, don't expect it to happen overnight. Get into habits you can sustain for a lifetime and gradually the weight will come off and stay off. Diet then go back to normal and you'll end up fatter.

Thanks near oats for breakfast cooked with water sometimes with skimmed milk,35g the chicken and sweet corn soup or innocent veg put. But skip lunch sometimes, the a normal supper say leansteak with newpotatoes or rice with seafood. Glasses of wine at say 1 every other day two on Friday night

What are you eating and drinking? It's not so much how many calories which matters alone....there are other factors.

I am just over 10 and half stone and really want to drop the half. I have been leaving on 1200 per day for the last 6 weeks and not losing any weight..why is this??
