I've been roped into making something for a charity bake off on Thursday. No one else will do it.

Has to be relatively easy but look great.

Cupcakes are out as I make those regularily.

I made a malteaser one similar to that for a raffle recently and that is my back up plan.

I might try a baked cheese cake. I'm off Wednesday so have plenty of time to make it.

What about this, you good with sugarpaste Mike?

Bugger, adding pic again...

MikeLitoris Mon 23-Sep-13 17:09:54

I could do that with a nice chocolate fudge cake couldn't I?

MikeLitoris Mon 23-Sep-13 17:12:19

I'm not bad with sugarcraft, I bake as hobby.

It's down to two options. Choc and Orange ring cake or a tall choc fudge cake.

The fudge cake could really be decorated anyway.

HugAndRoll Tue 24-Sep-13 23:14:33

Could you please post your ring cake recipe sounds good.

What's the charity? Could you do a themed cake? I know someone who makes fab 'booby cakes' for breast cancer awareness every year. grin

MikeLitoris Tue 24-Sep-13 23:18:43

Will do tomorrow. Off to bed now.

HugAndRoll Tue 24-Sep-13 23:32:35

Fab thank you smile

agnu its for the Nspcc. Not sure a boob cake would work grin

I'll be trying this one today hug. It's not the one I tried last time but I can't find the magazine I used. Think it was baked and delicious.

HugAndRoll Wed 25-Sep-13 20:42:30

Thanks mike that looks really good. I want to try out my bundt cake ring, think this'll be it.

I just did a plain fudge cake in the end. Been so busy here today. Chocolate orange buttercream amd a whipped choc ganache. I made a cute little owl to sit on top.

HugAndRoll Thu 26-Sep-13 20:26:49

Did you take any pics?

MikeLitoris Thu 26-Sep-13 20:35:51

Well, I did but looking at it the cake looks really wonky. It wasnt at all irl. I'll see if I can upload here.

MikeLitoris Thu 26-Sep-13 20:42:12

Arse. Its on my profile instead.

HugAndRoll Fri 27-Sep-13 11:17:24

That is amazing! I am very impressed and may also steal your owl design for my neice's birthday cake

MikeLitoris Fri 27-Sep-13 11:55:11

Look on pintrest. There are loads of them on there. It was actually quite easy to do.

sweetestcup Sun 29-Sep-13 12:33:14

That wee owl is amazing! Did you make the flowers to or buy them?

MikeLitoris Sun 29-Sep-13 13:55:11

Why thank you sweetest. I made the flowers too.

BillyBanter Sun 29-Sep-13 13:57:47

Fab cake! And owls are quite the thing just now.

MikeLitoris Sun 29-Sep-13 14:35:38

Yes I noticed that billy. Lots of them around.

My cake won the 'bake off' btw.

BillyBanter Sun 29-Sep-13 14:43:00

and deservedly so.

sweetestcup Sun 29-Sep-13 21:42:32

Well done you! Its so professional looking smile

stealthsquiggle Sun 29-Sep-13 21:45:04

Marking place to see mike's cake tomorrow cos I can't see profiles on the app..

stealthsquiggle Mon 30-Sep-13 11:48:26

very cute owl Mike

<<ahem, MNHQ, can you kick tech harder about sorting out the currently rather rubbish Android app so that we can see pictures?>>

Is there anything inside the owl or is he/she pure fondant?

MikeLitoris Mon 30-Sep-13 11:51:09

Its a cake. Made it with the littlest hemisphere tims from lakeland.

stealthsquiggle Mon 30-Sep-13 12:05:44

I did wonder. I feel I may "need" some of those dinky hemisphere tins.

MikeLitoris Mon 30-Sep-13 14:06:10

They are very useful. I made some cute lady birds too. Im sure they were only about £2.50 each.
