Flapjacks: chewy or sticky or crunchy or dense etc.

I always use the same flapjack recipe:
125 g butter
125g sugar
3 squirts golden syrup (75g ish)
250 g jumbo oats

Oven at 180, roughly 20 mins on middle shelf. Now, my oven isn't great, but they stlll come out different everytime!!

Any flapjack experts know how I need to tweak my quantities to change the result? (Am currently using vitalite instead of butter, which doesn't help, as dc3 is cmpi so we're both dairy free).

I don't like them too dense, prefer a bit of sticky chew, nice darker crunch on the edge. Any suggestions?? Tia.

I use this recipe and it seems to work really well:
100g butter (admittedly not sure how this will work when replaced with dairy free spread!)
75g demerera sugar
75g golden syrup
225g oats

Same as you - 20 minutes in oven, about 180. I normally add seeds, dried fruit etc which helps to make the flapjack moist and chewy.

Ooh, I've not made flapjack for ages; I might do this tonight!
