Any idea what this cake tin is for?

Could it be a tin for a charlotte? You know, the pudding that has sponge fingers around the outside, and a sort of moussey filling. From memory that's done in a deep tin with slightly sloping sides.

Flat base, smooth side.

I don't have any recipes that require such a deep tin. I've made plenty of Xmas/wedding cakes, and can't imagine ever making such a deep one.

I wonder whether it is indeed a pannetone tin.

Does it have a flat base? Or one that would create a donught cake?
First - is the the bottom half of a cupcake tin? So you need the top tin also?
Second - sounds like an angel cake tin

I was just looking on Lakeland and they have some that are 3.5 tall but they don't say they are for anything special. Just 'deep cake tins'.

I've been given a slightly odd cake tin. Circular, 8.5" across the base, 9.25" across the top. The strange thing is its height: 4.5" tall, nearly twice the height of an ordinary cake tin. It's non-stick, so can't be very old.

I have no idea what it's for (neither did its giver, which was why she gave it to me!).

Any thoughts?
