Bullying

Has reporting to Ofsted ever helped?

Such a long story and I feel too exhausted to go into it now. But DS has been bullied for 3 months. Year 4. School are in denial. I've recorded everything and emailed constantly. They have told DS that they've logged every incident but there's no consistency to who logs/writes things down and it seems like they haven't actually kept any of these logs.

The school are blaming it on DS for not ignoring the bully/standing up for himself and on me for being too anxious.

I've got a letter ready to send off to the Board of Governors but it seems on here that that will be a waste of time.

Has anyone ever got any help from the Governors - or alternatively Ofsted?

Ofsted will tell you to follow the school complaints procedure, which is probably the governors if you've already dealt with the head.

Contact the local education authority. They may see it as a safeguarding issue. Especially if the bullying is of an of the isms eg racism

Actually, OFSTED have been at our school this week. I was at a school assembly and they were asking some of the parents questions about what they thought about the school. The man sat in front of me was asked if his child had had any experience of bullying in the school. He was also asked if he thought the teachers were approachable and if they dealt with complaints appropriately. I would definitely approach OFSTED if I was in your position actually because the school governors and the head arte very friendly and are all in the same clique at our school. I just wouldn't feel comfortable doing it.

If you want Ofsted to know that the school doesn't deal effectively with bullying then you can fill in a questionnaire on their parent portal.

Contacting them in the hope that they will come in and sort the bullying out, especially if you haven't followed the school complaints procedure, is pointless.

You need to her a copy of the complaints procedure -and start quoting it ....

Ask for a copy of your child's records - you are entitled to see every report.

Governors carry a lot of weight.
