my 15 wk fully bf ds has stopped pooing! i know that bf babies can often go for long spells between poos, but what concerns me is the fact that he's suddenly changed from being a frequent pooer (twice a day, at least), to just a couple in the last week (it was also thicker than usual when he did go...sorry if TMI!). can only link this change with his 2nd imms, which he had last tues...are they connected, & any cause for concern do you think??

DS1 (breastfed) used to poo once a week - on a Friday around 5pm (just before daddy got home) - HUGE explosive ones that went right up his back - no cause for concern.

only wondering about it as it's a def change from normal routine. also wondering if he might be teething, lots of dribble, fist in mouth constantly...

DS1 did start of doing 'regular' poos - but changed to the once a week volcanoic eruptions - can't remember what age though.

that's what they do - just as you get used to their routine they change it .

Looks like you may have one of those who stores it up and then goes for a blowout. DS1 was particualrly good at those - frequently got it right up his back !

roosmum, that happened with ds3, he suddenly went from being a really frequent pooer to once every 4 days. There was no transition period either. He simultaneously stopped getting colic so I think it was down to his digestive system maturing. hth

"wondering now how his nappy will cope when the poo finally appears!"

My best tip................don't think about it - you may have nightmares

DD's record without poo was 9 days!!!! [shock} HV said this is normal in BF babies as there is little waste product fom BM?????!!! Most is digested??! DD was about 3-4 months I think at the time and up until that point had gone after alomst every feed. Don't remember the delayed poo being that monstrous either. I wouldn't worry unless he seems in distress and then it could be constipation. Enjoy lack of poo while it lasts 'cos when you start weaning that'll be mingin.

actually I found washables and wraps much better at containing explosive poo than disposables - so it may not be as bad as you think (not that you can do anything about it anyway - you get what you are given )

My dd went for 10 days without any output - then all of a sudden made up for it!!! Just be ready for a quick bath & complete change. My little one was completely covered upto her shoulders. Had to change the water twice in the bath as well. Good luck

hi throckenholt...still no poo here!
i use prefolds tho (for my sins ), which i love except for when we get a large explosive poo, just hope he's wearing a stuffy for the big occasion (much better!)
