just wondering, does anyone worry about the metal [mercury] in their mouth affecting their breast milk? Not talking about having new ones put in while bfeeding, but the old ones in your mouth that apparently release small amounts of vapour all the time. Anyone have any amalgam fillings? Am i the only one? Still partially bfeeding at 7months, wondering about continuing, ds so addicted..

I have amalgam fillings and figure that if they were causing harm to breastmilk, they'd have poisoned me by now too DS is still feeding at 12mo and shows no sign of stopping!

I worried more about it in pregnancy, frankly. I think there's a pretty good "filter" in place to reduce the amount of toxins getting through in breastmilk.

I didn't worry enough to have them changed before I got pregnant, though.

the only time you need to worry about the mercury in amalgam fillings really is when you are having your old fillings drilled out. I'm told by my colleague at work (who is a specialist in surgical dentistry) that there is more mercury in tuna than you absorb from amalgam. hope this helps

i don't eat tuna to try to counteract effect of fillings!
