Breast milk gets richer as baby gets older?

I've read on a few threads lately posts saying that the quantity of milk a baby takes between around 1 and 6 months doesn't change, but the milk does become richer. Is this right? I'd always assumed that the baby would take more milk as they got older. How does the milk become richer - does it just happen as your body knows you've been bf for longer?

I'm just curious really - currently bf ds3 19 weeks and can't find the answers to my questions on the net
