Noisy 'clicking' feeding

My 8 week old often feeds quite loudly - making a sucking, clicking noise, though not with every suck. I was worried that she wasnt latched on properly but my HV said not to worry some babies are just noisy feeders. The next time I saw her she said she'd thought about it and maybe she wasnt latched on right so every time she made the noise I should re-attach her. I tried this and we both ended up frustrated! I've since decided to just go with the noise as shes gaining weight well and is really thriving. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

If she is gaining weight well and thriving then don't worry too much about the noise. My first baby made a noise like a strangled seal which made everyone turn round and look when we were trying to feed discretely in public

yes, my ds made loud slurpping sounds and smacked his lips and my dd makes loud gulping noises that you can hear across the room. Don't worry. Just hope that they grow out of it by the time they're 40... my dh hasn't.

Both my DSs were noisy feeders. Gulping, theatrical choking etc etc.

I think if the latch was really poor you'd be getting sore?

SofiaAmes, I assume you don't mean your DH is still breatfed...

Yes, my dd did this for a while, can't remember when, but it stopped. Agree with soupdragon, if the latch was incorrect either you'd be sore or your ds wouldn't be satisfied.
