Infant feeding

introducing formula after 8 months of breast feeding - advice please?

In the past couple of weeks I've introduced a morning bottle of formula as I make the switch from exclusive bottle feeding to formula but think my son may be having problems.

He seems to 'try' a lot harder to poo and it defenetely is rounder and harder - this can't be good? Advice anyone?
He gets a good diet with fruit and veg at all meals which I make myself.

I have given him cow and gate the first one (is this right)and would prefer not to mess about with different brands as his older sister couldn't tolerate any kind of traditional formula milk and needed soya formula.

Do you think it is just his digestive system adjusting? Or that i need to remember to give more water now that he is not just breast feeding?

Any help would be apprecicated.
Thanks

Maybe you should try switching to Aptamil. Its the best formula and apparantely is the closest to BM. My first baby was BF till 8 months and we used Hipp first but then had to swap to c&g with no ill effects. My second baby at 13 months is still BF but has had aptamil on many occasions and takes this well.

Sorry I haven't any useful advice but I can't let this go unchallenged - Aptamil isn't 'the best' nor is it 'closest to breastmilk'.
It does have added ingredients that make poo softer though.

Agree with MrsB - don't fall for the hype surrounding formula!

Though I still bfeed dd, she has Aptamil on her cereal in the morning and also as a drink when at nursery.
Her poos have remained soft.

Don;t know if it;s the best formula, but I chose Aptamil because that's what they give babies in hospital (when there is a bfeeding problem).

Bottle feeding poos have more substance. Why is a formed stool not good? It's just different.

Don't fiddle with changing formula. And more water when it's hot would be fine. Or increase fibre in his solids? Weetabix; kiwi etc?
