Infant feeding

Bedtime feed time varies, yet DS always wakes at 9.30pm starving. Why?!!

He is 20 weeks and feeds about every 3.5-4 hours during the day. If I try to feed him more often he refuses.

I generally give him his bedtime feed at around 6.30pm. Sometimes, however it has been 7pm or even 7.20pm like last night. However, he still wakes up at 9.30pm every night hungry and I give him EBM - he takes around 7oz.

My question is: why can he go up to 4 hours through the day but will always wake up at 9.30pm for his EMB bottle? It doesn't matter what time his previous feed is!!

This 9.30pm feed originally started out as a dreamfeed at 10.30pm but he has been waking up for it for the last 2 months. Any ideas why? Do you think giving him the bottle at bedtime would stop him waking up later for a feed?

After 9.30, he wakes between 1am-2am for another feed and that's generally it until morning (6am-7am)

No idea why but I would just go with the flow regards feeding times as they aren't bad really. 6.30pm is too early for a bedtime feed IMO. Why does he have EBM at night? I would give the bottle during the day if it is to keep him used to it and breastfeed him in the evening and at night.

He has his bedtime feed at 6.30pm because he sleeps very little in the day. By 6pm he is ready for bed and, try as I might I can't seem to extend it. Was just wondering if the 9.30 feed was becoming a habit, but he really is hungry.

I would say he is hungry and think of it as the night time feed rather than the 6.30pm one IYSWIM?
