Breastfeding and pregnant???

I think I might be pregnant. still b/f dd1 who be 1yr this wk. Shes cutting down her feeds anyway but wondering if I should completely wean her. she takes 2/3 feeds probably only 1 a big feed (night time one. DH worried about the toll it will take on my body -average height but size 8.

Also wondering if its harder to wean them after a year (in case she doesn't decide to self-wean)

I breast fed DD1 for the duration of my first trimester with DD2. She was 2 years old by then although still fed fairly frequently. I didn't feel any ill effects and am aware of some people who have continued to feed their first and feed a newborn! Don't know about being hatrder to wean as I've fed all mine until 2 years+. Good luck!

Henrietta, I'm in the same situation. Just found out I'm pregnant and still feeding ds2 who's 13 months. I only feed him morning or night, but I'm going away soon so that may be an ideal time to stop.
I'm sure it won't be harder to wean, although I'll report back in a couple of weeks!

i was still breastfeeding when i found out i was pregnant. ds was 14 months and a few days after i found out he just stopped on his own. i read somewhere that the taste changes due to hormones but it could have been coincidence

Interesting huggybear any ideas where you may have read about the flavour changing thing??

I've read the taste-changing thing, too. I do have one friend whose DD self-weaned when she was in early pregnancy.

I weaned DS1 at 18 months, and it was easy. He was having cow's milk from cups most of the time, and breast just first thing in the morning.

Apparently the taste of the milk can change during pregnancy.

Whether you wean or not is really up to you - some people happily feed throughout pregnancy and then tandem feed. I was just about pregnant when dd weaned herself at age 2, she was down to one feed a day and one day wanted to play with her toys rather than feed. Personally that was great for me as I felt so sick in the first 4 months I don't think I could have handled dd climbing on top of me to feed first thing in the morning without throwing up on her!! If she'd been younger I might have made more of an effort to keep up the feeding, but I was happy that she was ready to stop.

She now talks about how the baby will "have booby" when it arrives in March - I think she vaguely remembers feeding herself.

Unfortunately Im not pregnant did test this morning. But DD seems to have coped well the last 2 days with a feed night and morning and she wasn't that that bothered about this morning one.

Now wondering when periods due and if in fact they have come back as ive only had 1. Really dissapointed in test result.

Thanks all
