Hi,

My 3.5 week old DS seems to be constantly hungry and it is really wearing me out!

For the past week or so he has been feeding roughly every hour and a half but it is taking me about an hour in total to feed him. He has about 40 mins on one breast and then between 10 and 20 mins on the other, sometimes more.

He has plenty of wet nappies and is gaining weight, but he just doesnt seem to stay satisfied for very long at all after a feed. He has also been quite windy, so by the time he has stopped feeding and got all his wind up, or poo out, he might only sleep for 10 or 20 mins before wanting another feed. As a result my boobs feel knackered! He is the same all through the night and as a result I end up falling asleep whilst he is feeding and he slips off, leaving me with sore nipples.

Sorry for long post, but does anyone have any advice. This is my first baby and i feel like i'm struggling to manage and have even started to contemplate bottles cos i'm just not sure i'm doing it right...

Thanks and sorry for long post!

this is really really common. Both my dss wre like this. Have a look in the old thread. They are building up your milk supply. It doesn't last forever!

Agree with misappropriate!
Get some Lasinoh if your nips are getting sore, though if this is happening very quickly you may need your latch checked.
But anyway all you can do is get yourself comfy, stick TV on or get some good books and lots of snacks and drinks handy and tell youself this won't last. Also can you bf lying down? Can you get your dp to latch him on and watch him for a couple of hours during the night to help you catch up on your sleep? My Dh did that for me, he would help ds latch on while I was asleep and then took him off when he was done.
