DD is 4 months old and ebf ... I've been struggling with pnd, and am on ADs for it, but today I went into town (one of the things I am most struggling with is large numbers of people), and had a panic attack in M&S. and

Am fine now I'm home, if a bit shaky still, but I have found Rescue remedy useful in the past ... but can I use it while I'm bf?

advice would be welcomed - as would alternatives to RR if I can't use it.

I've used it whilst bf. It's got booze in it but you only have 2-3 drops!

Chamomile tea has always worked for me too - I drunk copious amounts whilst bf and my 2 year old enjoys it now too. There's no caffeine it it (despite what a hv tried to tell me !)

Might be worth finding someone with a copy of Hales book on medications & breastfeeding...not sure if that would have resuce rememdy in it? Kellymom has a bit about it though:

Rescue remedy is actually supposed to be good for encouraging a let down reflex.

Sorry about your panic attack ejt. I find RR good diluted in a bottle of mineral water, sipped throughout the day.

I am sure I asked the pharmacist in Boots and he said yes. Do ring and check though if you don't know for sure yet.

it's fine for breast feeding - I have a bottle that gets used frequently.

there is a brand that uses a different carrier & is alcohol free - recovery plus emergency spray - www.ainsworths.com/site/product.aspx?ProductId=21947&CategoryId=3

Hi there ejt,

Sure you know this already but breathing into a paperbag is good for painic attacks - basically all the symptoms that accompany a panic attack are made wose by the fact that you blow off too much carbon dioxide when you hyperventilate. If you breathe into a paper bag then you breathe back in a higher amount of the carbon dioxide that you have breathed out so this helps you to calm down quicker.

No idea about the rescue remedy sorry but this might help!
