Hi

My dd is 6 months old, starting weaning next week and I have in the last week changed her milk to Cow and Gate Comfort 2. She was being constantly sick on Aptamil 1 to the point we had to change her several times a day? She is taking to the new milk really well and the sickness has stopped, however she is having very strange nappies, I know they are going to be green as it says that, but hers stink of fish!!! and they look like they have white cottage cheese in them? Is this normal?

She also has quite a bad case of nappy rash, she did a poo overnight two days ago and when I went to her in the morning it had made all her bottom sore, we use real nappies in the day and sposies at night, it doesn't seem to be getting any better so she is nappyless on a towel at the moment. Is this a normal thing to happen when changing milk or could it be a teething thing? What am I supposed to do if she poo's in the night, she sleeps 12 hours, we check her before we go to bed but I don't know what else to do?

She is also pooing like mad, she must be having five dirty nappies a day, plus wet ones!!

Any other mums who use comfort got any advice for me?

That is perfectly normal for 'comfort' the information on the 'health professional' part of C&G site says so - haven't got a clue as to why they don't think mums should know about this , I 'spect the fishy smell is down to the fish sperm and ground fish eye sockets and algae extract that goes into making some of the nutrients in formula, and I would say the curd cheese is exactly that - undigested curds (milk is curds and whey) Many formula milks are more curd (casein) than whey whereas breastmilk is more whey than curds - so undigested milk. perhaps the aptamil was more whey balanced.

I used the Cow and Gate comfort for a while and this happened. I changed him to Aptimil easy digest and he was better.

Normal for the comfort milk until their body gets used to it I was told.
