Infant feeding

feed sleep pattern in 4.5mo... very random...

My dd feeds all the time. I've lost track of how often I feed her. Today, it has been roughly 6.45am, 8.30am, 11am (that's an unsually long time and only because she was asleep as she had such an appalling night), 1pm, 1.30pm and now - 3pm. She will go on to have at least 2 more feeds before her bedtime feed at 7.30, and then what she'll do tonight is anyone's guess.
I don't mind feeding her, and I don't even mind a couple of night wakings - even if she's not hungry, at her age (19 weeks) she probably needs a bit of contact every night, which is fine.
But, last night she woke at 11.15, 1.30, 4, 4.30 and 6, which is a bit ridiculous considering that she weighs over 17lbs and could easily go for longer (she used to). I'm not expecting her to go through - her brother didn't until he was 9 months - but one or two wake ups would be so much easier to handle!
What can I do to help her in the right direction?

(I posted last week about introducing solids and/or formula, neither of which I have done - thanks for your reply, Tiktok.)

my dd's sleep went doolally at about the same time. I wish I had a solution for you! We had to just cope until she was old enough to go into her own room - about 5.5 months, but to be fair her room adjoins ours.

Her sleep got better quickly after this.

She's already in her own room - she outgrew the moses basket, and her cot wouldn't fit in our room. She quite often ends up in our bed though! Nice to know it's not just us, though.

it's just classic growth spurt territory. it's easy to get into a nice routine, then bag hits 4 months, it goes out the window and you want to restore what you had. ride it out. keep up the feeding. no need to 'solve' anything. no need to track feeds either.

My DD's sleeping AND eating went haywire at 4-4.5 months, two weeks of utter chaos. I think it was a combination of growth spurt, being distracted during the day and feeding more at night, and a spot of teething. I'm happy to report that after a couple of weeks she settled down and in fact she began to actually sleep through the night!

All very reassuring replies - thank-you. When I did it first time round with ds I tried very hard to get him into a routine, only to find that despite my best efforts he sorted it out for himself in the end (though I can't remember when), and I swore I would just go with the flow this time. Yet here I am worrying about it again...
She has got two teeth and a cold too.
