.....and he was very grateful that I'd brought it to his attention
I had a phone consultation with one of the other GPs in the practice on Monday, and was given cream for DDs bum, nystatin drops for DDs mouth, and he said a course of fluconazole tablets for me. When I got the script he had prescribed 50mg per day for 7 days.
Today I went to baby clinic and told the HV I didn't think I had enough to get rid of the infection. She sent me in to see one of the other GPs, and, armed with the BreastFeeding Netowrk leaflet on Thrush advice for Health Professionals, I have come away with a further 10 days supply of 100mg fluconazole per day.
He was very interested in the leaflet and took a note of the website and that of Kellymom and said he would do some reading up on the subject.
Hopefully he will spread the word to the other GPs.
Why is this so unknown to GPs? and why are they so reluctant to prescribe fluconazole?
