clara, no, your breastmilk would not make him ill (unless you were ingesting something illegal and I am assuming you aren't!).

If he looks ok, then the chances are overwhelming that he is ok, but he may have an ear infection that's preventing him feeding well, and which affects him when he is lying down breastfeeding and sucking and swallowing...worth checking out.
