Infant feeding

URGENT Expressed milk - need to defrost quickly - advice please?

Hi, had general anaesthetic today and we spilt some of my expressed milk so need to use a frozen one for next feed - is it ok to defrost at room temperature???

Do you need it in a hurry?
You could de-frost it in a microwave.

Just stand it in some hot water.

Best not to microwave.

Or run it under a warm, not hot, tap. Or put in a bowl of warm water

Yep I remember reading you should stand in hot water until defrosted, will take ages at room temp meaning out of fridge for longer, and don't think microwaving is great for it. Just keep renewing the hot water so it stays hot .

Oh you stars thanks so much for swift response. She's still asleep so we've got an hour. Shall i just leave on kitchen table then run under hot water if still a bit frozen?

Yes - it will undoubtedly still be frozen so don't use hot water until just before the feed.
