Breastfeeding and underwired bras....can they go together?

Ds2 (7mths) has now decided that he doesn't want milk during the day (on 3 solid meals a day), and when he does have a bf its first thing in the morning, and after his bath at night. Occasionally he might have a bf late afternoon.
So, can I wear underwired bras, providing they are fitted correctly and the wire doesn't press into the breast tissue? was sure I read somewhere that u/w bras are fine as long as they are well fitted, however when I went into Marks and Spencer the asst refused to fit me for one, saying it wasn't their policy to provide u/w bras for nursing mothers.

Hi Runny

I'm wearing one right now and have been wearing my u/w bras for a few months now. I got sick of crappy nursing bras. I've lost my figure and no chance of regaining it whilst still bfing so my boobs are the only thing I have going for me, I want to make the most of them !!

It is fine, as long as well fitting. You can even buy underwire maternity and bf bras by anita.
I've been wearing ordinary u/w bras for ages now, cos wanted a figure back. Used to just push up the cup, and these days (she's 21m) don't feed her out & about so even less hassle.

Try somewhere like bravissimo if you have one nearby if you want fitting, or shop around til you find somewhere less behind the times than m&s

Anita do an underwired bf bras. I wore underwires all the way through my preg and as soon as I could after ds was born. As long as you go and get fitted (maybe try John Lewis or Debenhams? M&S never have my size anyway, so I gave up on them LONG ago) I'm sure you'll be okay. Or go back to M&S and lie!

Hi,

I got really fed up of monoboob from minging nursing bras and bought myself an anita underwired nursing bra.

I just feel so much better about myself and have had no problems with it.
