Nursing bras -any recommendations?

Hello all. I would be really grateful for advice about nursing bras. I am 38+4 and the baby seems to be engaged (or at least lower than before), so time to get fitted for a nursing bra.
Does anyone have any brand recommendations -or ones to avoid?

Lavendermist sorry to highjack but Im needing the same advice realy. I was actualy told the best place to go is John Lewis and they are realy good at measuring you too. Good luck with the birth by the way

Imo Emma Jane are the best nursing bras having tried Mothercare and M&S. Got mine from John Lewis - very supportive without cutting in to the shoulder blades but also very soft without seams, so no painful chaffing!

My sister sent me Bravado nursing bras which were quite good for the early days when my breast-size was yo-yoing by the hour. And good for sleeping in, too.

Avoid the Next ones. Soooo uncomfortable. John Lewis do fittings. I bought my comfy ones from Figleaves.com, and Topshop do one or two as well. I have a very comfortable leopard print one from there

Bravado - excellent till your size settles down, comfortable and not too ugly. Then get remeasured once babe is a few weeks old

If you don't like restrictive or scratchy bras, Jojo Maman's Seamless is a nice unstructured soft jersey one, as it is elasticky (?) it stretches with you quite well as your size changes.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll be heading to John Lewis in that case -might just have to stop off in the nursery section again as well, and maybe the haberdashery for some nice knitting yarn... the cafe's not bad either- oh the hardship

Yep, the Emma Jane basic nursing bra is the most comfortable one i've found. I got mine from figleaves.com

If you can get them in the UK (I live in Germany) these from Medela are super-good.

In my first pregnancy I bought so many bras, both for the pregnancy and for nursing.
Second time round, I think these are great because they come in small, medium and large sizes, so you can grow quite a bit and still fit in the same size instead of buying endless numbers of bras that will never fit you again. They are obviously sporty looking, so not very 'pretty', but the support is excellent- stopped my norks resting on my belly in late pregnancy!

I found these nct ones to be the best for me as they were really supportive too - washed really well and I wore them for approx 9 months - I found m&s to be really uncomfortable

I bought M&S twinpack when I was due, or maybe in the first week after birth, can't remember (sorry). But what I can remember is that they became too big and baggy once breastfeeding was established and my boobs settled down, so I ended up just wearing them overnight. My absolute favourite nursing bra which I bought at about 10 weeks post-natal was an Elle Macpherson one. It was expensive - £32 - but I LOVED it and it was so pretty that it cheered me up immeasurably (was havinf b'fing problems at the time). And I wore it and wore it. Would have bought two had I known that I would still be b'fing 9 months later .

I second the Elle Macpherson bra. I bought mine just before I had DD, wore it for 13 months (not continuously!) then, and then again all through my pregnancy and 10 months of feeding with DS. So I've pretty much live din it for 3 years! Well worth the dosh as it also makes you look a nice shape and is prettier than most.

I found this bra really comfortable and forgiving about size variations. Also no seams, seams in other nursing bras gave me mastitis more than once.

Once feeding's settled down a bit and you're over the initial engorgement issues Blooming Marvellous do a very nice underwired one which eliminates the mono-boob look.

Last time i found m&s and mothercare useless, this time i'm very happy with debenhams miriam stoppard range and they're very reasonable!

Elle McPherson smooth ones - definitely. I am still wearing mine through my second pregnancy and they have kept their shape well and are SO much more supportive than any others I tried. They are £32 I think. Not cheap but worth every penny. Have just bought another in preparation for this baby.

No thats not bad realy. Im saving already,Im 28 weeks with number5, and fed up with boring non supportive Mothercare or Matalan nursing bras. This is our last dc so gonna make a real go of bf this time. Found the Mothercare ones good for wearing in bed though as they were very comfy jsut didnt seem to give much support.

And the one I got was the lacy Elle Mac one (didn't itch me) and also was fab shape. I got the tea colour. So pretty, made me feel a bit glam - no mean feat with new baby!
