Tomorrow in the Parentcraft room of Whiston Hospital (downstairs in Maternity ward) there will be an antenatal breastfeeding workshop.

Nicki, a midwife who specialises in breastfeeding, will be there to play games with jelly babies and walnuts, show you hand expression on her frighteningly realistic replica boob and generally put your minds at rest about the entire thing.

Several mothers (including me ) who are currently breastfeeding will also be on hand, to serve you tea, coffee and biscuits ... and will of course be happy to answer any questions.

It starts at one o'clock and finishes at three - with regular toilet breaks.

Partners and other children are of course welcome. You don't have to be giving birth at Whiston to attend!!

Anyway I really must put ds to bed now...

I suppose there aren't that many Merseyside MNers, let alone those who are antenatal, let alone those who are antenatal and thinking of bfing.

Still, I'll come back tomorrow morning to bump, just in case... [hopeful emoticon]

ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!

I'm in L'pool, preggie and want to breastfeed (first time round went pear shaped and had to admit defeat!). Need all the help I can get this time.

Missed this post as haven't logged on the last few days but would love to know if anything like this will be happening again (I work part time so limited availability though....).

Would happily travel to Whiston but anything like this happening in L'pool?

I would if it was 2 weeks later honestly, once on M/L it sounds good, I'll be at Warrington Hospital to give birth, so not too far away.

Munchkinmum I don't know of anything else in Liverpool, I'm based in St Helens so only know of that area and Knowsley. However we run one on the last Thursday of every month at Whiston Hospital.

But there is also a general breastfeeding support group at Whiston Hospital every Friday morning, and pregnant women are more than welcome; we do have quite a few coming (hence why we set up the antenatal group as there was obviously a need) and you'd be more than welcome to come. Nicki is on hand for any support and we also have a trained BFC from the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (as well as people like me who go along to share experiences).

And Lulumama knows of lots of things up North Merseyside way, too.

Ambi we will be having another one on the last Thursday of next month too, and as in my previous post there is a general bf support group on every Friday morning too and pregnant women are welcome (as are children / partners of course).

Okay everyone! It's that time of the month again!

This Thursday in the parentcraft room (basement in Whiston Hospital) come along and learn all about breastfeeding from Nicki, our resident genius breastfeeding supremo (okay, infant feeding co-ordinator, but the former sounded better).

You'll learn about hand expression, play games with jelly babies and nuts and also be able to ask any questions you want!

You'll also get:
Regular toilet breaks
Tea, coffee and chamomile tea made for you
A nice sit down
Biscuits
Honest answers to your questions from Mums who are currently breastfeeding

Starts at one o'clock this Thursday!

You're welcome to come whether or not you plan to give birth in Whiston hospital; Dads, Grandparents and children / toddlers / other babies are of course welcome!
