How long for milk to dry up?

I've stopped feeding dd2 (13months) for the last ten days and my boobs especially the right one are still very sore. She was only on one feed at night so my supply wasn't huge. I was pg when stopped feeding dd1 so never really had this problem before. I'm not engorged or anything, they seem quite empty tbh, just very sore to touch. Any advice?

I stopped suddenly (DD started biting). She was having 3 feeds a day and I would say it was about a fortnight before milk dried up. I was very sore during this time. I tried massaging the lumps under a hot shower which helped a bit.

I stopped feeding DD at 16 weeks (just the one feed a day), she is now 17 months old and I still have milk.

Wow LBRWG that's amazing - are you sore?

Thanks JJan I'll do the hot shower thing and see if that helps. The soreness is getting worse which I suppose is due to the milk thats left.

Not sore at all and unfortunately my breasts are back to normal size

Don't get me wrong, I'm not squirting the stuff, but it's there if DD pulls my nipples, as is her wont of late whenever she sees them.

I fed ds2 for 7m until January this year, I stopped gradually through december, and could still get milk out in July!!! Its stopped now though. My friend reckoned 9 months on there was still milk in her breasts.
