Any bf mums having trouble with, erm, constipation?

I have been, well, a bit slow in the digestive tract since DS was born, pretty much. I've increased my intake of fruits, water and fiber (hooray fibogel), but my stools are still very hard and while I go every day, by the end of the day I feel bloated and full but get no urge to go to the toilet. I just feel all backed up.

Has anyone had this problem while breastfeeding, and if so, what did you do to resolve it? Help, PLEASE! So uncomfortable.

Are you drinking enough water? I'm not currently bfing but when I was I would never feed without a big glass of water around as it made me incredibly thirsty!

Try drinking it warm - have a pint glass with 3/4 cold and 1/4 hot from kettle.

Dehydration is a major cause of constipation.

Yes I had this problem and it was dehydration. I need to drink about 5 litres of water a day (am feeding a hungry 5 month old every 2 hours) just to feel normal!
