Ooooohhh - I just took charge of 2 Anita Maternity underwired nursing bras. They are amazing - so supportive. Only downsides are a) cost - but I am not thinking about that and b) breast pads can be a bit fiddly when you're dropping the cup.

Previously I was in the Mothercare standard issue bras and found them comfy and convenient, but not very supportive.

Oh and my nursing size is 36DD/E if that helps.

i wish i could go back to a DD. i now have the most fantastic porn star bazookers at 36G. its lot to carry round although DH thinks they look fab.

i got a kit of ebay and aam going to convert one of my plunge bras to see how it goes.

A kit? sounds great if it works moocowme, far too creatively crafty for my clumsy fingers I'm afraid. I would love that though seeing as I buy the same bra from debenhams year after year But it is a perfect fit. Just gone up a size this time round, last time I was an E cup...

The Anita AND Freya rosalie look gorgeous, might buy one of each. I know its an extravagant thing to do but I've such awful memories of my last ones it may be just the therapy I need (at least that's what I'll tell myself )

Thanks for your input girls.

i have these

anita microfibre

anita cotton lace

they are both very good, i probably prefer the first, as the latter is a little too high cut for some of my tops. but otherwise very nice.

if you put OCTEMA244 in the promotional code box, you can get 20% off figleaves orders.

I like the freya one to look at but it gives me blocked ducts. I don't think there is much cup at the side iyswim.

Anita underwired jacquard all the way here.

I was thinking the same as Amberjee.
Last week at least writing COSMO in the promotion code box got you 20% off and free delivery on Figleaves.
Enjoy :-)

i love a good figleaves discount! (and there is always one about) i just tried the cosmo one, but doesn't work, think it might have expired. The OCTEMA one is fine though

Another vote for the Anita underwired ones (from Figleaves and Bl Marvedllous). Pretty and supportive.

I'm a 32 back and it's really hard to get bras in that size so Freya Rosalie is the best for me...and Elle Macphereson -the 34 back fits- and is great too but soooo expensive. If I could I'd only buy Elle Macphereson in fact but the Freya one gives a really good shape and she seems to feed better when I wear it which might just be my imagination....
The worst in the Royce Jasmine...I kind of hang over the band by the end of the day.

I love the Bravado ones in terms of comfort, but my favourite is an M&S t shirt style one (could only find it online)- all the rest give me visible nipple unless I wear breast pads which can also look a bit odd under workwear.
These days when DS really only has two feeds a day I'm generally wearing some M&S cheap tshirt non nursing bras, where you can fairly easily, ahem, whop a nork out (as DH says) without undoing anything.
The Anita underwired was great, but broke after 6 weeks of use, which I wasn't impressed by. Have been to the heady heights of 36F when DS was 3 months old, and am now reduced to 36C. S'not fair !

Wow thanks for your responses girls, its all great stuff, I forgot about a lot of the criteria for making them a good one...

I agree that mothercare were the worst last time round in terms of support, style, well everything really but there wasn't much choice...

Thanks for the figleaves tip offs, I've browsed there but never ordered...20% makes loads of difference...

Quick question as i've totally forgot what i did last time, did you buy up a cup size from your pg size or just get what you were? ie I'm 33 weeks so should I just get a 38D?

Lizzer, I waited until I was 36 weeks and got measured then for a nursing bra. I think they say 1 cup up from that size generally.

I used to work at R & P, and we used to sell alot of Anita bras. I used them. very good.

Lizzer · 19/10/2007 10:33

Amberjee, thanks for that, I'll wait a bit, breasts are getting a bit tingly every now and again so I guess they could be on the move!

Thanks pirategirl another vote for anita!

Thanks for the tip off Amberjee

Lizzer I went and got measured in mothercare before popping (pop? yeah right). However my back size has gone down from 38/40 before to 36 now - so if you are planning to stay in the bras for a while, it might be worth waiting until they settle down.

another vote for Anita - I like the 'air cushion' padded one to avoid visible nips (I don't leak much and hate breastpads)

Bravado get top marks for comfort, though not especially flattering shape and poppers are harder to do up than 'nursing clips' - cheapest here though they don't do all the colours.

That Anita air cushion one - when you unclip the cup, is there anything underneath?

I like bras where you unclip the cup and you've just got a bit of elastic running down the side by your armpit IYSWIM. The EmmaJane ones have a load of material under your breast, and a lot have material over too. I need to get it all out...

Expensive but worth every penny, far better than anything else I could find
