Infant feeding

10 month old, self weaning from breast, do I need to give him formula?

That's it really, gone from 4-5 feeds in the day to none, and from feeding all, if not most, of the night to just one feed at 11pm and another about 7.30 am, he is obviously eating enough solids, and drinking water but not loads, do I need to give him formula in the day?

mine was on one cup of cows milk at this stage. He didn't drink an awful lot of it TBH ut I didn't want to buy formula just for a few weeks - he was pretty big and chunky so I thought he could pretend he was a year if the milk police came by.....

does he have yogurt, cheese etc? Should be fine I reckon

Yeah he has a fair bit of dairy, does he not need the iron and stuff in formula?

Hi

How long has this been going on? The one thing DD goes off when teething is BFing as it is too much pressure on her gums. It can be a week or so before she will take to it again. Could just be a bit of a blip and he will take to it again.

If you are worried offer a little follow on Milk in a cup occasionally and see but TBH he may well be getting enough from 2 feeds if he takes a lot at once.

maybe he does nataliejane but he's not going to suddenly stop needing it at the magic 12 months is he?
If he's eating a good and varied diet then it shouldn't be a problem

He started dropping feeds about 5 weeks ago, the past week he has just had the late night and early morning feeds. Last week he broke the first tooth for a couple of months, but his first four teeth didn't seem to affect BF at all.

Tommy, of course you are right, why does plain and simple common sense never kick in when it comes to your own kids.....? I would be the first to say that to someone else in this situaton....

Meant to say, I'm not worried as such, he seems completely fine at the moment, was a bit worried that he wouldn't be getting the right vits and nutrients but Tommy just pulled me up on that!

I suppose I'll just leave it for now.
