Infant feeding

That dubious SMA/Wyeth advert, the one with the bloke doing the night feeds...

I got a letter from the ASA this morning saying that they're going to take the issues up with the advertisers under their formal investigations procedure.

obviously, it's not a victory (yet) but it's really good to know they're at least taking it seriously!!

Is this the new one about 'follow on" milk with the baby who is in no way over 6 months?

How did you complain? Is there an email form? Link?

I thought the night feed claim was tenuous in the extreme

oh excellent news urban...

was talking about this the other morning
interestingly it was the ff mums at the antenatal group who were crossest about it - they said it was misleading because their dhs still never do the night feeds hence it misrepresented ffing...

for UD's news though

thats the letter i had when i complained about the dairylea ads and asa ruled in my favour, though it is a slow process, so hopefully it will be sorted soon.

Littleducks - I complained about the dairylea ads too! Apparently only 3 people complained but they still upheld our complaint. I was very impressed with the efficiency of the ASA.

I have complained. DH is a militant bf supporter and was horrified by this advert.

Just complained - thanks for the links urban. It incensed me when i saw the advert - like we need ANOTHER way of not so subtly implying that bottle feeding is the norm. AAAggghhh!!

Thanks for the link. That advert is just so misleading. A load of absolute tripe! Not least about the dh getting up in the night, I know mine wouldnt! He never hears me getting up to bf dd now!

DS3 is 6 1/2 months old.....still has (minimum) 1 night feed a night.......given to him by DH...

Not sure how the references to night feeding make it seem like it's aimed at a younger baby - I thought it was a widely accepted myth that all babies sleep through by 6 months old????
