Infant feeding

Can't get her to drink enough milk

My DD of 11 1/2 months stopped breast feeding suddenly at 10 months - It was nursing strike and I tried to get her back to it for 3 weeks but found it so upsetting I decided to give up. Since then she had some expressed milk and now has formula which she had also taken sometimes when I left her with some one else so she is used to it. She will drink some milk but I cannot get her to take more than 1 - 2 oz at a time and in total she only has about 6 oz if I am lucky a day. She will drink water but just refuses the milk. I am supplementing with milky porridge breakfast, yogurts and milky/cheesy sauces but am worried that she is just not getting enough milk for her age. She eats very well so I'm not worried about energy levels or iron etc but more calcium and whatever else the milk has???
Am I worrying un-necessarily???

They should be getting a pint at this stage a day, but that includes cheeses, yoghurt milk on cereal etc so it all counts

What has your HV said?

I'm not an expert on this anymore, since my dd is very much older than yours, but I would have thought, that as long as she's eating a well balanced diet, she'll be fine. She is nearly 1 afterall, she's getting plenty of nutrition for everything she is eating.

Yes you are. Like Maureen said if she's eating a varied diet anyway she'll be OK. If you're worried about calcium there are plently of non dairy sources about.

My DD went off milk apart from 2 bfeeds a day when she was 10mo but we substituted with lots of green leafy veg, tahini (as in hoummous for example), almonds etc. and she's fine.
