Jordan, her new baby and breastfeeding in OK magazine

Has anyone seen the interview with Jordan? I looked through a friend's copy quickly. I was not pleased with what I read about breastfeeding. The gist was "My breasts are for one person only. No one is feeding off me. And anyway, Junior had formula and he's ok". Fair enough, that's what she thinks, silly cow, but did the magazine have to print it?!! What a struggle it is in this country to promote a positive image of breastfeeding with this sort of rubbish appearing in the press. Having said that they were more interested in when she would next be having sex.....
Thoughts anyone?

Does anyone take her opinion seriously anyway? If it was someone who comes across as more sensible and intelligent such as, I don't know, a newsreader then it might be more of a concern.

I think it's a shame that the positive messages about breastfeeding obviously haven't got through to her and printing her words will only perpetuate the weird attitudes that many people in the UK have towards breasts and breastfeeding.

i love a good bit of trash and gossip but OK really is unreadable.

Just confirms the vacuuous stupidity of teh woman. Agree, that it's irresponsible of OK to publish it, in a way. But then, are the people who think Jordan is marvellous and a "good role model" (ha!)teh same people who are interested in breast feeding? Oh I don't know, am waffling. Surely she's not responsible for being a role model for breastfeeding anyway. She is simply stating her opinion which she is entitled to do.

This highlights the problem of assuming that someone who is famous is also going to be a good role model.

I would imagine she had been told that it would be extremely difficult for her to breastfeed because of the amount of surgery she's had on her breasts. When breast enhancements and/or reductions happen milk ducts get damaged etc and so for some women breastfeeding will never happen.

Perhaps we should send comments in to OK!

She is unlikely to be able to feed due to all the surgery. Perhaps she is feeling a bit bad and so trying to convince herself as much as anyone else.

With the number of implants she has, it is unlikely she would be able to breastfeed, so maybe she is feeling defensive?

Agree that it is a totally ridiculous misconception of what breasts are for, but I suppose "her breasts are her fortune", and titillating men is far more of a priority than being a role model for breastfeeding.

The whole thing just makes me feel ill really.

I use to really like Jordan but the comments in this magazine have put me right off her completely. She is being very insensitive IMO.

This isn't unexpected though, and one thing about Jordan is she is honest. This is her honest opinion and unfortunately many women feel the same.

I don't think anyone would view her as a role model and be swayed by her thinking TBH. I doubt anyone takes her seriously most of the time.

It is a great demonstration of how the sexualisation of breasts stops them being used for what nature intended.

Worry not, Jordan's example will be used in the classroom for demonstrating this sad attitude so really she is helping the cause

I disagree, this is the sort of blatent formula promotion that undermines breastfeeding. There is a double page full photo of Jordan feeding her baby from a SMA bottle (branded as such) and she raves about how easy it is with fully dispoable bottles and teats sitting in crates. On the very next page there is a full page advert for SMA progress milk...of course they are unable to advertise first milk, not that they need to with such irresponsible celebrity endorsement.They are obviously providing her with all of this free of charge. As for her not being a role model unfortunately that's not true. Maybe mumsnetters are not fans but her autobiographies have been on the best sellers lists for months and many women aspire to her lifestyle.
