I was BF'in my 9 mo old first thing in the morning, late afternoon and finally just before bedtime. However yesterday he refused his afternoon feed (which he does occasionally) but then refused his evening milk AND has not had ANY today??!

He is eating fine (solids) but won't drink any fluids from a cup so has not had any fuids since yesterday morning, so I'm pretty concerned.

My boobs are causing me absolute AGONY - they are full beyond befief. I can't even cuddle ds without being in sheer pain. I can't express any milk as we are currntly moving house so breast pump is packed (god knows where!) and i don't know how to by hand.

What do I do about the lack of fluids?

Do you thinnk he has simply decided he doesn't want BF'ing any more? is no milk at the age of 9 mo ok?

pls help.

dont panic! babies are wired to survive so just keep offering the breast / water every suitable chance

sit in the bath and relax and just squeeze them, look at his photo, etc, Im sure someone can explain it a bit more graphically to hand xpress!!! just tweak the nipps

dont panic, he may just be weaning himself/ not want any for a bit and its nature's way of getting him to lower your supply.
Dont worry

unless it carries on, then phone HV/nhs direct

He might have a cold or a sore throat and doesn't want to suck. Try to give him foods that are liquidy - soups or maybe melon? Would he take milk from a spoon?

I remember that horrible bursting painful feeling (I melted my brets pump & had to wait til the next day to buy another!)

Have a warm bath & put warm flannels on your boobs & then try and massage them a bit.

Good luck

Well i'm glad this is nothing to worry about. No he won't take milk from a spoon, cup, bottle, beaker or anything.... very frustrating! We have been trying to get him used to a Doidy cup for the last couple of months, eaach day but he just doesn't 'get it' (bless him).

I will have a go at hand expressing tonight but i feel like i have 2 boulders implanted in my chest - they feel SO tender so i don't think expressing will be easy at all... but will try.

thanks for your advice... atleast the weather isn't hot so he won't dehydrate.
