Infant feeding

post-breastfeeding boobs -when will they go down?

I am currently switching from breast to bottle feeding and dropping one feed at a time I was wondering how long it takes for your boobs to shrink when you stop? Sorry for the vain question but I have a wedding to go to and debating whether to wait til I stop feeding to buy a dress (I'm praying that I'll magically shrink about 2 stone when I stop!)

Currently a 36G but was a 32DD before I got pregnant.

ha!
you will never ever get back to being a 32DD!

with luck and lots of dieting/excercise you might make it to 32E or EE, but otherwise, ont hold your breath.

sorry, but that s the truth

Mine didn't shrink at all, they stayed a size or so bigger each time. At one point when I was about 18 I was a 32B, I'm now a 34E (well I was measured during pregnancy and need to go again but bras still fit ish, prob need a 32 really) and I'm a size 8 still. Back then I was a 6-8.

Mine disappeared completely after finishing bf with my first two..i went down from a bouncy pre-preg 34b to 34 a, even the woman at M&S suggested I try their teenangel range

Gave up three months ago and mine have disappeared to back to their nothingness about 1 month ago. Think it is very individual and more to do with rest of your weight and how long since you stopped combined.

who knows cylonbabe maybe I will -am guessing every woman's different...am not expecting miracles straightaway but it would be good to know that they will shrink a bit once I stop -it's so depressing trying on clothes at the moment as anything that fits my boobs drowns the rest of me and it's making me want to slob around in trackies and big t shirts forever which in turn gets you down.

anyone tell me how quickly they might shrink a bit?

A subject very close to my heart !!!!! HV told me could be 2 months before boobs decide how they'll be staying

As DS had last bf on Sunday went to M&S today to be measured. She told me was 40E but when actually tried some on ended up buying 38D - go figure !

Breasts shrink a bit initially, and then start to go back to what they were (more or less) as you start to lay down a bit more fat, replacing the milk making and storing tissue.

Gloria, your HV is wrong. This process usually takes longer than 2 months. Think more like 6-12 months.

sorry tiktok bit confused when you say they shrink initially -do you mean from what they were originally or from what they were when you're feeding?

From where they were initially - 'cos there is less fat in them. Then it gets replaced and you are (sort of) back to normal....

I'd be happy for mine to be a bit smaller than originally -anything's better than the size they are now!

I'm doing 2 feeds a day now (morning and evening, baby is 11mo) and they have gone pretty much back to normal. Well not as they used to be but the size is much the same! I can wear my pre-bf bras.

Mine never did. I lost the weight off my back so that went from a 38G to a 30, but the boob size remained the same. Cups get bigger with a bigger back size so I am the not-so-proud owner of the wackiest size on mn - 30J. (Were 30G pre-kids)
Am seriously contemplating surgery now.

I would postpone ubying your dress for as long as possible. I finished bf about 3 months ago. They initially went down within a week of two of stopping and felt all empty and saggy . Now they seem to be perking up a bit but I've also lost weight around the back. I'm sure I'll carry on changing shape for a while yet, and I'm sure you will too.

Have a lovely time at the wedding!!
