Infant feeding

6 month bf baby, growth spurt or what?

Just over a month a go my ds was having approx 7 feeds and mostly sleeping through. Over the last month things have got worse and worse and for the last 2 weeks he has been having 9-11 breastfeeds plus one then two meals a day. 3-4 of these feeds are overnight. It's driving me mad. I thought startign weaning woudl help but am not sure weather is because of the weaning, because he's not having enough solid food, because he's having too much solid food, because he's havign a growth spurt or because my milk supply is low. My period also started again this month so not sure if perhaps there has been a hormonal effect either on my milk supply or on the baby who is now feeding a lot to make sure we will be the only one ever!

Has anyone else had this? Did it settle down? It's making me very grumpy and in the middle of the night contemplating starting bottle feeding which I really would rather not do.

Weaning does seem to mess up good routines doesn't it? My dd is six months and am just starting her on solids. Now she seems to need more bfs than ever! She is waking earlier and hungrier. Sorry can't help - just wanted to empathise!

Thanks bizziebee. Everyone seems to tell me different things. Just don't know what to do. He is wolfing down the solid food. I don't know what he is doing with it all! sigh

well - i am just going with it at the moment - and feeding her as much as she wants, I think she doesn't realise that solid food actually fills her up!
