Stupid woman in Independent: 'tits are for: a:sex toys; b) boob jobs'

I'm really annoyed. We buy the Independent because generally the standard of news is reasonable and the editorials tend to be balanced but today's magazine has this silly woman Vicki Woods going on about how it's silly that Ruth Kelly attended the breastfeeding manifesto launch and equating public breastfeeding with WOMEN SQUATTING AND URINATING IN THE STREET.

I'm about to send the editor a response. Who wants to join me in telling this daft woman where to get off?

Here's the article

gosh, so women shouldn't breastfeed because men might get embarrassed...of course !

what a piece of utter drivel

do you think it was ironic? or does she actually believe what she has written

I thought I'd picked up a copy of the Daily Mail by mistake....

This is the final line from my email to them:

Oh and my breasts are not just for boob jobs or as sex toys, however clearly your writer's bottom is used for talking out of as well as the usual function!

Vicki Woods is an anagram of 'ow! sick void' which describes the inside of her head. Oh the irony...

i'd love to say i was shocked. i'm not.

she's doing it to court the controversy. she's a journalist. it's what journalists do.

I think but am not sure that she is being ironic some of the time - I think she is saying that because our society is so f*** up about bf and breasts, that it makes no sense to criminalise people/men who are embarrassed.

She needs to know that there have been no prosecutions in Scotland - just more babies breastfed - since the law.

She also needs to know that no one is suggesting criminalising embarrassment, just preventing that embarrassment from translating into harrassment.

That's not ironic, that's moronic! Honestly, if I was a heavily pregnant first time mum reading that, I'd have felt a bit sick and put off to think all of those people thinking I was planning to do something as uncouth as urinating in the street!

Agree with Tiktok. She is being ironic about the boob job bit. TBH - I have read more reacationary stuff about bfing than that. However I can understand how you could get annoyed.

I stopped reading the Independent some years ago, following a very stupid article about breastfeeding.

It seems to me they just want to stir up a response; writing to the editor only validates them - unless you also say "and this is why I shan't be buying the Independent any more."
