I am BF my 5.5mth old ds2 and last night had the most horrid experience. Ended up with massive shakes which lasted about an hour and only calmed down after I had stuffed myself full of food. But I am left with an aching breast - bloody hurts - hurts when DS2 latches on and all during a feed to the point that I stopped using that side and just fed him off one side. Really not sure what it is though - I've had no problems really over the last 5mths. I Ache really deep down and my breast feels hot to touch also my milk production has gone into overdrive.
Thanks for your help
regards
Harriet

You prob need Tiktok's help really, but I'll bump it. I had thrush and it doesn't SOUND like my symptoms. I had shooting, burning pains deep within the breast tissue and although feeding hurt, the pain was actually worse later, especially at night. However, when I had a blocked duct, it did feel sore and achey and was red and slightly warm.

Anyway, hopefully someone with all the facts will see this.

i had mastitis a few times and it started with feeling very very cold and shivery, but hot to touch all over my body

my breast was red and hot to touch, shooting pains when baby first latched on, but gone after a few seconds

my mw phoned the dr who prescribed me antibiotics, but after much thought i threw them away (i was worried they would get in to my milk) and i just fed and fed and fed baby on demand, it had gone after a day or two

tiktok will help you if she is around

hope you feel better soon x

I've had both and it sounds like mastitis to me. You can get quite feverish, and all I wanted to do was eat toast, drink sugary tea and sleep.
Come to think of it that's pretty normal.
I was very, very tired with it though and had antibiotics. The 2nd time i cleared it up by expressing for england (painful) in a hot bath, feeding and feeding and resting, and didn't need antibiotics. I wouldn't leave it too long though as it can get a bit nasty.
With thrush I felt more myself generally, the probs were very breast-specific, iyswim.
