Dd2 struggles during let down when milk comes out too quickly for her. She splutters etc and gets v upset too. Been trying to leave an hour gap between successful feeds as situation much better when she's properly hungry rather than just wanting to suck (she's VERY sucky). Also been trying to lie back during feeds, but not always practical. Tried expressing milk at beginning of letdown, but again, not always practical. These things haven't made much difference.
She's putting on weight ok at the moment, but with dd1 we had the same problem and had to switch to formula at 14 weeks as every feed averaged a very stressful (for her mainly!) 2 minutes, and as a result my supply suffered a lot!
Am really hoping that as DD gets bigger she will be better able to cope with let down. She is a much better feeder than dd1.
Any tips would be fantastic, and would love to hear if anyone has been through the same!

I have with dd. It wasn't every feed but more when she was tired. She used to scream as though it hurt her to swallow, and then hungrilly go back on then come off and scream. ds did this too but with bottles. I don't think either of them could cope with fast flow.
We used Infacol which helped and took her to an osteopath.

I don't think she did much really (Have taken her and ds for other things and it has helped)

Dd only fed for 3 mins too. She got it all really quickly. It did get better. I just stuck it out. It was hard though.

I had this and the only thing the bf counsellors suggested was to lie on my side and feed lying down. Not sure from your post whether you're doing this already, but maybe give that a go, if not? The idea was that it reduces the effect of gravity on your milk flow...
